Window looking in

Last Tuesday I watched the BYU forum where a professor from Kansas City talked about how we find out identity in life.  One comment struck me deeply regarding the media in our lives.  He said that today in our society we use media to numb our current life.  We become so interested in the lives of the characters we watch and forget to get out and LIVE OUR OWN LIFE!  This professor told story after story about his adventures traveling around the world.  He talked about the real life people he met and the lessons he learned from them.  As he was talking I realized that I wanted to have stories like theses in my life.  I also realized that I watch adventures on television and on movies as a substitute for my own personal adventures.  Overall, do not let the media become a substitute for your own personal experiences. Life is for living not for mindlessly watching.
